This is a great addition to your Yamaha GYT-R gear kit that you can purchase from your local dealer. They will be offering the 70/30 kit only.

**These updated overdrive gear sets are drop in replacements with no case modifications needed**

Weller Racing is the official installer for the Tubeworks gear / clutch mod kits. Have confidence when you send us your transmission that your kit will be installed perfectly with the quality we live by. We tested this kit in the brutal environments of the King of The Hammers races and it ran flawless. We were one of only a couple cars that didn't have to use our winch at all through the entire race.

I chose to install this myself since I already did the clutch mod. I purchased the GYTR kit from my local dealer and watched the videos on YouTube. I am not going to lie, this is a fairly difficult job, I would say about a 7 out of 10 for a backyard mechanic. I have been in a handful of atv motors and transmissions, plus was a pretty big gear head in my younger days. If you have not done any mods yet, my advice, send the whole thing to Weller. I chose to do my project over thanksgiving weekend, this made it difficult to find someone with a hydraulic press, required for this procedure. There is also case and shift fork mods that need to be done for this gear install, you will need a die grinder. Now here is what is amazing, Kyle was available thanksgiving weekend and walked me through these modifications. He answered several of my questions, sending back pictures of what needed to be done. That is amazing! It's winter in Idaho, so I have not had a chance to take this for a big test, but driving around neighborhood, I will say it is a must have. If you need to go through slower terrain, you will burn up the clutch, it's gonna happen. The wide ratio tranny is a game changer. I love having the lower gears, and not being wound out at higher speeds. Weller customer service is THE BEST!

Gears

Fairly challenging job, but as long as you keep organized and remember how things go back together a mediocre back yard mechanic should be able to get this job done. thats pretty much what I consider myself anyhow.... especially with the step by step youtube video that I compile for Trey Brock. That and a service manual and you are good to go... Took me 4 hours to remove tranny and crack open the case... about 6-7 to get everything back together.. took my time reassembling to be sure I didnt miss anything because I dont want to have to open it up a 2nd time... all done..so far so good... love the 70/30/15 ratio choice... re the shift fork grinding.. . reassemble to the point you install the upper fork.. then you'll see where to grind on it.. I used bench grinder for the fork and dremel with stone bit for the case..

Q: What’s the benefit of this 5 gear mid? How fast can my YXZ1000R go with a flash ? Top speed that is?

A: With most ECU flashes the speed limiter is unlocked. Depending on the power the machine is making the vehicle with stock gearing is able to reach speeds of 90+. This gear kit is generally sold with the gear reduction kits so that we are able to still obtain higher speeds but will overdrive 11% more than the stock 5th gear no matter how it is used.

Q: Hello, I bought the kit GYTR 70 / 30.My Yamaha YXZ is Stoke. If I buy the 5th Gear Overdrive.My Question?.Will he have the same top speed, ie 125 kilometers hours thank you

A: The 5th gear overdrive kit will add more top speed but still not quite what stock was before the 70/30 kit. The overdrive kit does help a lot with lower RPM cruise speeds.

A: This 5th gear kit is going to be an overdrive gear to what you are currently running. You will have more top end speed and a better cruising RPM but it will not have as much power for larger tires.
