WOLVERINE RMAX CLUTCH KIT OPTIONS
Which Clutch Kit is Right for Me?
The RMAX platform is known for running high RPM and being noisy, especially at cruising speeds. Our clutch kits are designed to solve that problem in different ways depending on what you want out of your machine.
Each kit has a different “personality”: Aggressive, Balanced, or Comfort.
1. RMAX Improved All Around Performance Clutch Kit (Most Popular)
This is our balanced, do-everything kit. It keeps strong bottom-end performance while significantly lowering cruising RPM and cab noise.
- Best overall drivability
- Stronger take-off than stock
- Lower cruising RPM
- Quieter and smoother ride
- Available for Stock and Oversize Tires
Dyno result: Lower RPM than stock while maintaining strong torque and power delivery.
Ideal for: Trail riders, overlanders, hunting rigs, and anyone who wants performance + comfort.
2. RMAX Improved Bottom End Clutch Kit
This is our performance-first kit. It raises engine RPM through the shift to maximize torque and acceleration.
- Strongest bottom-end hit
- Most aggressive response
- Higher RPM at all speeds
- Louder cab noise
- Available for Stock and Oversize Tires
Dyno result: Highest RPM curve and strongest low-speed torque delivery.
Ideal for: Aggressive riders who want power and response and don’t care about RPM or noise.
3. RMAX Lowered Cruising RPM Clutch Kit
This kit is built for comfort and quiet operation. It sacrifices some bottom-end performance in exchange for dramatically lower RPM.
- Lowest cruising RPM
- Quietest cab
- Smoothest driving feel
- Slightly slower take-off
- Available for Stock and Oversize Tires
Dyno result: Lowest RPM across most of the speed range.
Ideal for: Ranch work, touring, long trail rides, and noise-sensitive drivers.
Expected RPM Changes
- All Around Kit: 600–950 RPM reduction
- Lowered RPM Kit: 800–1400 RPM reduction
- Bottom End Kit: Stock RPM range or slightly higher
Stock Tires Now, Bigger Tires Later?
All WR RMAX clutch kits include a primary clutch shim.
- Stock tires ? Do NOT install the shim
- Oversized tires ? Install the shim to correct gearing loss
This makes future tire upgrades easy without buying another clutch kit.
Do I Need ECU Tuning?
No. Our clutch kits work perfectly with stock ECU tuning and are fully compatible with WR ECU tuning. ECU tuning is not required.
What Happens to Top Speed?
With stock ECU tuning, top speed remains unchanged.
With WR ECU tuning (speed and throttle limiters removed):
- ~76 mph on stock tires without shim
- ~70 mph with shim installed
Do I Need Grease on Roller Weights?
HV Weights and Sliders can be run greaseless, but we strongly recommend using grease for best longevity and smooth operation.
- All Around Kit ? Grease recommended
- Lowered RPM Kit ? Grease recommended
- Bottom End Kit (stock weights) ? Grease required
