Description
Chromoly Camshaft Pins with Backing Nut:
  • made from chromoly
  • replaces weak push in pins
  • nut on back to guarantee that they are locked in
There are 2 weights on the Yamaha 660 camshaft sprocket that operate the decompression mechanism. These weights are held in by 2 soft pins that easily break off causing the timing chain to derail, or they can put holes in the engine when the weights fly out. We put them in every build we do here at Weller Racing and you should too!

the stock pins are weak, even if the back side is welded to keep them from coming out. we had one brake loose. so we got these weller pins. they seem to be of great quality, and installment was simple. I may even buy another set for another raptor!

Rating Replace your OEM pins NOW!!!
 
I picked these up after my OEM pins sheared off and wreaked havoc inside my engine. The pins fit perfect although I did have to grind back the pin notch in the cam a tiny but however this was mentioned in the install directions as a potential possibility and it only took a few seconds with a standard right angle grinder. No modification was needed to the head itself. Overall I am gad I made this upgrade and recommend it to anyone with a 660.

Pins are a perfect fit with no modifications to my head for nut clearance. They work great and give you piece of mind over the stock press pins.

Overall good part. However, these pins are taller than the stock pins, and required some cutting with a die grinder on the wall of the cam chain chamber to clear these taller pins. I recommend the instructions be revised to include a step to check for interference and correct before installing the head (if off). This could avoid extra steps needed to keep the metal chips out of a freshly assembled engine.
